Case Studies: The Parcell Family of Geneva, Ill.

The Parcell Family of Geneva, IL, sets up one of the most impressive residential displays in the world every year. In 2003, Animated Lighting played a big part in their success. Among many effects, the Parcells mixed several of their lighting routines to music and captivated thousands of passers-by, including the Chicago-area affiliates for FOX and ABC news.

  • Hardware and Software: Animated Lighting's Monster Brain Animation Processors, Lighting Controllers, and Animation Director
  • Total lights: Almost 40,000
  • Power: About 120 amps spread across seven dedicated 20 amp circuits
  • Extension cords: Approximately 105 totaling about 3,400 feet
  • Characters: 43 (including penguins, polar bears, snowmen, elves, reindeer, snowboarding penguins and Santa)
  • Setup time: About 60 hours
  • Tear-down time: About 36 hours
  • Storage: Everything (almost) is stored in an attic above the garage taking up about 250 square feet
