What's New at
Animated Lighting
Animated Lighting has been
gearing up for an even better 2007! We've redesigned some
of the controllers, expanded our DMX capabilities and now sell Chauvet intelligent
lighting fixtures. Our newsletter for this month
will give you a peek at what's happening with Animated
Lighting.
Animated USA

Words
can hardly describe our newest 4x6' flag done in LEDs and
synchronized to your favorite patriotic music.
See a video at our website and get your order in now.
If you want something that will show your patriotic spirit to
the community, you can't get one of these fast enough!
Our
ELC-16 is Back!
Our 16
channel light control unit has been redesigned to make it even
more reliable than previous generations. Although you
can't tell much from the picture of just the circuit board (with
the heat sink removed), the channel status lights have been
moved to the top and the external connections are much sturdier.
We've even dropped the list price to $289.99.
Check Out the BLD16-SSR
Board
Got your own
solid state relays but looking for an easy way to control them
in a standard environment. Our new 16 channel SSR board is
just for you. You can use almost any size solid state relay to
control huge amounts of power.
This technology, developed
for and used by large, well-known commercial entities, is now
available for use in your display.
Use this board to drive random-switch solid-state relays,
enabling you to control various lighting effects such as ramps,
fades, sparkles, shimmers, flickering, etc. Zero-cross
solid-state relays can also be controlled (on/off control only)
allowing you to control everything via one system. What does all this mean in English? See more at
our website.

Case Study: Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas

Animated Lighting was approached by a major
holiday décor company to work with them on a project with a
large tree that potentially would be installed in one of the
fountains in front of the entrance to the hotel/casino. This was
an exciting but also very detailed and in-depth project as it
included working with the following companies:
1. Major Holiday Décor company: This
company has tremendous creative talent in dealing with wreaths,
garland, ornaments, etc. but needed help in understanding
computer controlled lighting, music synchronization, electrical
requirements, etc. We did a lot of “hand holding” to make
sure they understood how to convey our vision and options to
their client.
2. Manufacturer of Holiday Tree: Our
technology and products were also new to the manufacturer of the
tree. Prior to working with Animated Lighting this company
typically installed one to three colors of lights on their tree.
Because there was no animation on the tree, they did not break
out their lighting by rows and by color (which we need to do the
various lighting effects up and down the tree). We had to
work with the manufacturer to reconfigure the lighting channels
by rows, color and amperage.
3. Caesar’s Palace personnel: There are
several topics to review with the personnel at any commercial
project. These include (but are not limited to) the
following:
- Number of circuits, circuit amperage,
circuits location, type of power (single phase, etc)
- Location of controllers and access to
controllers in the event of equipment maintenance
- Trouble-shooting and repair/replacement
of equipment in case there are problems during the time
(typically 35-45 days) that the hardware will be in use
Caesar’s Palace decided they wanted to
illuminate their tree with LED light strings (3 colors), have 90
lighting channels and custom lighting shows. They also wanted
on-site support (several days including providing technical
support) at the official “Lighting of the Tree”.
The successful implementation of this project
has led to many jobs with the Holiday Décor company, other
companies that have purchased trees from the tree manufacturer,
as well as many high-profile commercial lighting projects.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors have come to see the tree over
the past seasons and it has also lead to national exposure from
national television networks.
What's in store at Caesar's for 2007?
This will be the fifth year for the animated display and there
will be even more synchronization of the lights to music.
You'll have to wait until the official lighting ceremony to see
what they really have up their sleeve to wow the world!

Success Stories from
Ken Good

In January
of 2005, Ken Good jumped into the computer controlled Christmas
display world thanks to Animated Lighting. He bought the
Animation Director software,
FM radio transmitter and four
light controllers. The problem was he didn't unpack anything
until August. Let's let Ken tell the rest of the
story.
I really
didn't know what I was doing the first year.
I loved the
animated
Christmas trees on the Animated Lighting website, but
storage was an issue so I designed my own version using
pull up trees. I used several of the pre-sequenced
songs sold by Animated Lighting and altered them a little to
make it look like they had been custom programmed for my
house. Our display was a big hit. We were on the news
several times and one television station did a live feed
from our house on Christmas Eve.
On
December 26 I started working on what I wanted to add to
my display and hit the after- Christmas sales. I picked a
theme playing off of the four colors from the Animated
Lighting Christmas Trees and decided to make almost
everything in my yard turn all four colors. I
had experienced significant fading with
blue and red incandescent lights
and discovered the beauty
of
LED lights
at a Christmas workshop. I also watched the videos of
all the really good displays from 2005 and I tried to
incorporate the things that I liked. At the top of my
wish list was LED lights and some type of
DMX lighting. I liked
the yoke that Mike Z had in his display and decided to add
one as well. I also decided to add a
DMX
controlled fog machine. I
doubled my lights for 2006, added cases of LED lights and
took on the challenge of adding DMX lighting. Also, I
decided to add a website at
www.ChristmasAtTheGoods.com. Then on a whim, I added
several voiceovers to give the whole show a polished feel to
it.
The
response to the display was even bigger than the year
before. Our home was highlighted in our local news,
nationally on Fox News and in a story in the New York
Times. I designed and programmed a show using Animated
Lighting’s software that was approximately 30 minutes long.
The week of Christmas the traffic was so heavy that we
shortened the show to only 4 or 5 songs. Even then, several
people waited over an hour to see our show.
In 2007,
we will be doubling our lights again. We will be adding a
16 foot tree from Animated Lighting. Also, we will be
adding more DMX equipment to include two snow machines for
the balcony and other
DMX lighting fixtures (also from
Animated Lighting). This
has been an exciting hobby and a good stress reliever.

Intelligent Fixtures
If you're ready to really put the wow in your
Christmas display, you need our
DMX converter and DMX lights. You can get everything
from Animated Lighting. We now sell
Chauvet Lighting products.
Add these to our Haunted House In A Box Pro and Christmas Kits
to really put your display over the top.
The LED Colorsplash fixtures are reasonably
priced, DMX controlled and we make them weatherproof. You'll be
amazed at the richness of color and the fact they use only 10%
of the energy of a typical incandescent light fixture.
If you're ready to add some moving lights,
Checkout our Intimidator moving head spotlight. By using
Animation Director, you can point the spotlight anywhere you
want, have it change colors and even flash patterns on a wall.
Use these fixtures to make you display look like a concert
venue. |
