32 - 64 Smart DMX Channels
You've marveled at all
the stage lights during a live production of a play or concert.
It can seem like thousands of lights are changing colors and moving
around simultaneously. The magic behind all this is a technology known as DMX and it can be used to take your display to the next level.
This DMX
standard is different than the Animated Lighting data protocol,
but our engineers figured out a way six years ago to allow them
to work together on the same network. It's our
DMX Converter that does the magic and is one of our older
products with a proven track record. Time to freshen it up!
DMX is a
protocol used around the world by the lighting
industry but it does have some interesting limitations.
Lights are grouped together in universes consisting of no more
than 512 control channels. Many light fixtures require several
channels to operate (think of those "moving head" lights that
spin, change colors, etc.) and a universe of channels fills up quickly.
Today DMX even controls snow and fog machines, lasers, strobes, outdoor
rated LED lights and more devices than you can imagine.
The biggest
challenge is each DMX channel is pretty dumb because it's constantly
waiting for a command from someone sitting at a lighting console
to tell it what to do
next. The Animated Lighting engineering staff said they
could fix that little problem using some Animated Lighting
magic and they did. Now you can use DMX with your Animated
Lighting data network (that little wire daisy chained to all of
your controllers) and take advantage of "smart" DMX channels
that work the same was as your typical Animated Lighting control
channels.
As an example,
to fade a light from 100% full on to 0% totally off over 10
seconds, in the DMX world a computer would issue ten commands a
second over ten seconds, with each command saying to dim the
light one more percent. Now for a computer that's pretty
easy until you have a bunch of lights all dimming, ramping up and
blinking simultaneously. The standard DMX protocol can
certainly handle it, but it's not efficient. Our DMX
Converter adds a DMX based, 512 channel controllable universe to your
data network and makes the first 32-64 channels smart, meaning a
simple command is issued to dim the light from full on to full
off over ten seconds, the converter takes care of the details
and allows the controlling computer to go off and do more
important activities. The rest of the channels in the DMX
universe can also be controlled over the Animated Lighting data
network but they're in the dumb mode.

But wait,
there's more! Many of our off-the-shelf
synchronized light
shows already have DMX controls built in. Give us a call to find

Animated
Building Displays
So you want to put something special on your building or home to celebrate the holidays?
You can always get that friend of a friend of a friend to go to the welding
shop, bend a bunch of metal, get your teenage daughter to put
some lights on the thing and then hope for the best. The stories we have
heard over the years. Save yourself the grief.
We have worked
with the top fabricators in the industry to build some standard pieces that will
look good on any building during the holidays. Many of these products can
be pole, building or ground mounted, depending on your needs. Each piece is
designed for a commercial environment, built from heavy duty steel, powder
coated for the harshest weather conditions and includes it's own stand-alone
light controller so the display comes alive. All of these decorations are
lit with the latest LED technology to save on your energy costs and will last
for many years. The pieces can operate independently with the included
light controller or connected together
for a full blown light show with music.
